What to expect
How do we know if you’re the right photographer for our family?
What do you like about the photos on my website? Can you imagine having something similar up in your home? My goal is to capture the connection between family members in a really authentic way. If you look around my website, you’ll see minimal posing and absolutely no cheesy smiles – that’s not my style at all but if you’re after beautiful, authentic, emotive, family photography then read on…
Because it’s so important that you ‘gel’ with your photographer and feel that their approach is going to work for you and your family, I am happy to offer a free, no-obligation, telephone consultation OR a face-to-face meeting where I can meet you and your family for an informal chat.
MY STYLE / APPROACH
The way I work is to set up situations whereby families get the chance to interact with each other naturally. This works as a two way process where we agree what we’re doing beforehand and I never force anything that doesn’t feel comfortable. For example I might ask you to walk towards me or to give your partner a hug, tickle a child or move towards the window light but I always have my camera ready to click the shutter in that split second I see those natural expressions.
During the consultation we discuss the following:
- Your goals for the session – are you looking for artwork for your walls or for your coffee table?
- Any ideas you may have – are there any photos online or on the website that you’d like to recreate?
- Any props you’d like included
- The best time of day and date for the shoot
- Location, location, location.
- Any questions or concerns.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
BOOKING THE DATE
Once you’ve decided to book, a non-refundable SESSION FEE and signed contract are required. This will book reserve your date and the contract will outline important information e.g. what happens if it rains etc. We’ll work with your schedule to find the perfect day for your session
On the day of your session, we’ll meet at the agreed location and time and start snapping away! A portrait session can take anywhere from 1-2 hours. There’s really no rush – or general time limit – just what feels natural. Firstly we’ll go over your priority shots so we can make sure we get those first. After that, it sometimes takes a few minutes to “warm up” together, meaning getting comfortable and feeling relaxed in front of (or behind!) the lens. After that, it’s really up to the photographed subject as to how long the session will last. This is the fun part!
VIEWING YOUR PHOTOS
The photos have been taken and individually retouched with care, now it’s time for you to see the end result of all our hard work and planning! At this point in time, you’ll have the opportunity to choose the photographs you would like to have as digital downloads. Your gallery will be available for 10 days from when you first login to make your selections. This is your time to get really excited about your images and imagine how they’ll look in your home!
