Actor Headshots
Looking for headshots that capture your essence, stand out to casting directors and feel unmistakably you? Then you’re in the right place.
I create headshots that feel natural and organic (not overly posed) to show what you look like in-person.
So whether you need fresh images for Spotlight, your agent or for an upcoming role, we’ll work together to create images that open doors.
Book a session today and let’s create headshots that get you noticed!
This page contains details about The Experience, Prices, How to Book & FAQs. Take a look around and if you have any questions then don’t hesitate to get in touch!
“Paula has an amazing talent and vision. Her calming presence made me feel at ease during the session. I am so, so happy with the results. I will definitely be going back.”
The Experience
My sessions are relaxed and collaborative to ensure you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. I show you the photos as we go along so that you’re involved in the process. What feels like a natural, relaxed expression may look a bit serious what feels subtle may be too much. You’ll be able to see if you’re doing too much or too little and we adjust as we go along.
We’ll aim to get images that show a range (such as warm, smiling, serious, edgy) and that capture your personality and uniqueness too. If you know your casting type, we’ll take images to reflect that. I take plenty of images to ensure you have a strong selection to choose from. Your final gallery is easy to access and share, so you can get feedback if needed.
So whether this is your first headshot session or you’ve done it many times before, you’re in safe hands.
What to Consider
To get the most out of your shoot, it helps to plan ahead. Here are a few things to consider:
Here are a few things to think about:
- How many images do you need? Consider the variety of looks you’ll require for your agent or Spotlight etc.
- What you’ll wear: Choose outfits that complement your natural feature such as your skin tone and eye colour. If you are targeting specific casting types, plan outfits that align with each character type.
- Do you need any full-length shots? If yes, bring appropriate full-length outfits as well.
- Does your hair need a trim or styling? Ensure it’s neat and not covering your eyes unless that’s intentional for a specific look. You don’t really a stylist or professional hair / make-up for acting headshots (but you can if you like).

FAQs
Where is your studio located?
My home studio is located in Epsom, Surrey KT17, outside of ULEZ. Full address details will be supplied when you book.
By Car
The nearest M25 junction is Leatherhead (junction 9). Then it’s a 15 – 30 minute drive from there (traffic dependent). It’s very easy to find and on-street parking is available just outside.
By Train
The nearest train station is Epsom and it’s a 15-20 minute walk from there.
Do you have any evening or weekend sessions?
Yes absolutely! I appreciate not everyone can attend a weekday session so I often book sessions in the evenings and at weekends. However, they are not available to book online because I have to fit them around family life.
If you’d like an evening or weekend session, just complete the form with some details of when you’d like to come and we’ll make a plan that works for us both.
How do I prepare for my session?
- Get a brief from your tutor or agent. If you don’t have an agent, it’s no problem, we can talk through what you’re aiming to achieve and go from there…
- Get your hair trimmed a couple of weeks in advance
- Consider your clothing. Choose solid colours that complement your skin tone. Clean & press clothes, hang on hangars and put in a garment bag.
- Get a couple of early nights so you look and feel rested.

Can I see the photos during the shoot?
Yes absolutely, I’ll show you the back of the camera during the shoot, so you can see how things are going. It’s a good way to check the direction of the shoot and we can change things up if we need to.
When will I get the images?
You’ll receive the gallery within 5 working days of the shoot.
As soon as you’ve selected your favourite images, the images will be retouched. If you have any requests with regards to retouching, this is the time to ask. Retouching usually takes a week or two (depending on workload) but if you need a quicker turn-around, it’s usually no problem.
Just let me know and I’ll do my best to work to your timescales.
Do you take full-length images or just headshots?
Yes, absolutely. Although most clients come for headshots, I’m happy to take full-length and three-quarter-length portraits too. At the start of your session, we’ll discuss exactly what you need, and we’ll tailor the shoot to create the images that work best for you.
What does retouching mean?
Retouching means editing an image for small details.
Distractions such as stray hairs and temporary blemishes are removed so that the focus is on your expression. Retouching is subtle, it serves to complement the image, not to change how you look. The goal is for a natural finish so you look just like your photo when you go for castings.
Images are also optimised for brightness, colour and contrast to bring out the best in them.
Have you got an up-to-date DBS certificate?
Yes I have, if you’d like to check it, just ask!
Can I buy a gift voucher for a headshot session?
Yes absolutely!
Paula Deegan Photography’s gift vouchers make an ideal gift. Prices start from £125 for the Headshot Mini and £175 for the Headshot Classic.
