What to Expect

With a family shoot I keep everything as fun and light-hearted as possible. I let the kids lead (or pretend to) and often appease them by photographing things they suggest too – it often helps keep things on track. The session is relaxed and fun and I focus on getting shots of you all interacting in positive way to create a set beautiful, expressive images that are full of life!

The Process:

  • We have a quick chat on the phone to establish your goals
  • If you decide to go ahead, we book you in. All you need to do is pay the deposit (session fee) to confirm the date. The session fee is important as it covers my time. The photo session is one small part of it, but behind-the-scenes, I spend many hours in post production, retouching your beautiful images to bring out the best in them.
  • I send you a ‘how to prepare’ guide for making the most of your session. There will be tips for what to wear, how to keep the kids happy during the shoot and tips on choosing products.
  • Then there’s the photo shoot – the fun bit!
  • After 2-3 weeks, you’ll get a link to view your images – the exciting bit!
  • Then you purchase a collection. Collections are very flexible and you only purchase this once you’ve seen your images and are sure they’re everything you hoped for.

Pricing

The pricing is split into two parts – session fee and collections

Session Fee

Session fee includes:

  • Phone consultation
  • What to expect guide and tips on how to prepare for your session
  • Your photoshoot (approx. 60 mins)
  • My time carefully selecting and retouching the best images from your session
  • A private, online gallery to review your beautiful photos (32 minimum)

The session fee does not include any products or digital files. They can be bought as part of a collection once you have seen the final photos.

Collections

Collections are very flexible and include a number of digital files AND credit to spend on products (frames, albums, gift prints etc). Products that add a stylish touch to your home and make gorgeous gifts for family members.

  • Where is your studio located?

    My home studio is located in Epsom, Surrey KT17, outside of ULEZ. Full address details will be supplied when you book.

    By Car

    The nearest M25 junction is Leatherhead (junction 9). Then it’s a 15 – 30 minute drive from there (traffic dependent). It’s very easy to find and on-street parking is available just outside.

    By Train

    The nearest train station is Epsom and it’s a 15-20 minute walk from there. 

  • Do you have any evening or weekend sessions?

    Yes absolutely! I appreciate not everyone can attend a weekday session so I often book sessions in the evenings and at weekends. However, they are not available to book online because I have to fit them around family life.  

    If you’d like an evening or weekend session, just complete the form with some details of when you’d like to come and we’ll make a plan that works for us both.

  • How do I prepare for my session?

    1. Get a brief from your tutor or agent. If you don’t have an agent, it’s no problem, we can talk through what you’re aiming to achieve and go from there…
    2. Get your hair trimmed a couple of weeks in advance
    3. Consider your clothing. Choose solid colours that complement your skin tone. Clean & press clothes, hang on hangars and put in a garment bag. 
    4. Get a couple of early nights so you look and feel rested.

  • Can I see the photos during the shoot?

    Yes absolutely, I’ll show you the back of the camera during the shoot, so you can see how things are going. It’s a good way to check the direction of the shoot and we can change things up if we need to. 

  • When will I get the images?

    You’ll receive the gallery within 5 working days of the shoot.

    As soon as you’ve selected your favourite images, the images will be retouched. If you have any requests with regards to retouching, this is the time to ask. Retouching usually takes a week or two (depending on workload) but if you need a quicker turn-around, it’s usually no problem.

    Just let me know and I’ll do my best to work to your timescales.

  • Do you take full-length images or just headshots?

    Yes, absolutely. Although most clients come for headshots, I’m happy to take full-length and three-quarter-length portraits too. At the start of your session, we’ll discuss exactly what you need, and we’ll tailor the shoot to create the images that work best for you.

  • What does retouching mean?

    Retouching means editing an image for small details.

    Distractions such as stray hairs and temporary blemishes are removed so that the focus is on your expression. Retouching is subtle, it serves to complement the image, not to change how you look. The goal is for a natural finish so you look just like your photo when you go for castings.

    Images are also optimised for brightness, colour and contrast to bring out the best in them.

  • Have you got an up-to-date DBS certificate?

    Yes I have, if you’d like to check it, just ask!

  • Can I buy a gift voucher for a headshot session?

    Yes absolutely!
